Is this normal?
On the droid x - it was never more than about 10% - - now I am constantly seeing 40-50--- even 60% battery drain from aos.
any thoughts on this?

Mine varies on day to day but is running high today but I don't have battery life complaints...
The first screen shows my batt stats, followed by 2 screens from badass battery monitor... It shows a nice break down, which the kernel is the culprit for the high os...
Right after getting her RAZR, my wife had 70% of her battery depleted by the end of a workday in which she said she didn't really turn on the phone at all.
After two days like that, I had her remove all her home screen widgets and her live desktop, and start adding back the things that she needed most. My suspicion is that the live wallpapers were doing something that was getting attributed to the Android OS - they were overworking it or something. She had the one that came with it that shows the weather/etc outside as part of the background. I don't know if she's turned them all back on yet, but I do know that she never turned on the live wallpaper, and she now goes 2 days of light use between charges (on a regular RAZR - not a MAXX.)
I'd start with the live wallpaper removal, confirm if it gets better. If not, I'd go at the rest of the widgets and if removing them all eliminates the problem, start adding them back one by one.
Good luck!
EDIT: I should have confirmed -- overwhelming % of her battery use was, like yours, attributed to the "Android OS" before she made the change. I didn't explicitly state that above.

I don't have this problem but my girlfriend did, and I had her turn off 4G like I did and use only when she needed it. I found a little button on the market to toggle it on/off to make it easy for her. So this also helps your battery.
Has anyone else found a solution to this problem? I too am getting 55% or more CPU usage from my "Android OS" . I am not using the phone a lot. I am not using a live wallpaper or the pocket detection or any of those things.
At 2AM on Sunday night, really Monday morning, I had charged my razr to 100%. Unplugged it and 7 hours later when I awoke it was @ 90%. I put it back on the charger until it was back to 100%. Used it a bit to read the latest news and weather. No video. At noon when I got to work it was back to 90%. At 6PM, only a few phone calls and looked at tapatalk once or twice, it was at 80%. It is now close to 9PM and it is sitting at 70%. Of course this is with very little use. I have no special apps to measure beyond the standard 'battery information' in settings and the OS is, at this reading used 28% while voice calls used 30%. Of course I've learned that what one part of the system is using the most juice varies depending on what I'm doing so each time we look it may be one or another for a given period of time. Keeping a charger at home, work and vehicle is my solution for now.![]()
Do you have a Maxx Jimmy? If not, that's insane battery life out of a Razr. Whatever it is you're doing, good on ya!
I can get pretty decent battery life on my Razr, with about 40-50% left after 15 hours.
For those that are having problems may I suggest installing a battery monitoring application such as this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...bGFicy5iYm0iXQ..
It may help pinpoint what application, if any, is causing the drain.
