Razr M and Navigation through bluetooth - odd behavior

When Google Maps came to the iPhone, I played with it on my wife's phone and noticed that directions came over bluetooth, interrupting any music that was playing. When I got my Razr M, I presumed the same would be true, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work and only comes through the phone speaker. However, yesterday while using navigation and on a phone call over bluetooth, the voice prompts for navigation came over the speakers in my car so it would appear that it's possible for the Navigation commands to come over bluetooth. The question is why don't they? I've got a Razr M on version 4.1.1 and I'm using this in my 2011 Mini Cooper.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have never tried this, however if you go to the Bluetooth menu in settings with Bluetooth on and your earpiece connected you will see a cog wheel icon next to the device name. Tap on it and under "Profiles" you should see "Phone Audio" with a check box "Use for phone audio". I think this is the option you want.

Already had the box checked. No joy. Any other ideas? Really frustrating to have a Google app work better on the iPhone than an Android device.

Odd behaviour indeed.

I use a Jawbone Icon Bluetooth and even when talking on the phone the Navigation instruction is loud and clear through my headset. (Just wondering if the problem is your phone or headset). Works the same in my 2013 Nissan Altima through the car audio.

Very interesting. I don't get the media audio option on my phone. I'm connecting to my Mini Cooper's bluetooth, not an earpiece so perhaps that's the difference. I'd love to play my music through the car stereo via bluetooth, but based on some Mini forums I don't think my radio is capable. What's frustrating is that it works fine with my wife's iphone connected to the car's bluetooth and as I said, the navigation prompts come through the speakers when I'm on the phone.

Most frustrating experience yet with this phone. I tried the ones you suggested and others, including those that I paid for and none of them worked for navigation. I could find one that would play music over bluetooth, but not navigation.

The Google Maps app for iPhone works perfectly. No fuss, no muss.

Can't believe it doesn't work on Android.
