email works sporatically
My email seems to be working only sporatically on this razr. I have 3 accounts that are suppose to sync. 2 yahoos and one verizon. Every once in a great while it will download my mail for me (like 20% of the time). the other 80% of the time I have to hit the send receive to get it to come through. Not sure about issues sending as I do my majority of sending from my laptop. Anyone have any idea? The data push is on as well.
Thanks!

Have you added the power control widget to your homescreen to ensure that the data sync is enabled (you can delete this once you double check)..
On a blank homescreen, long press & select widget, scroll down to "toggle power control" and select...data sync is the 2 arrows rotating in a circle...

Has this only been happening the last 48 hours, or longer than that ? The reason I ask is because Verizon is reporting network connection issues that are Nation wide yesterday and this morning. In fact many people cannot get an LTE connection this morning and some cannot even get a 3G signal (posts on various message boards this morning).

Thanks for the heads up Deron! That would explain my lack of a 3G signal most of the day and other issues, but as far as the email goes it's been longer than that.
Smalltowngirl - it is enabled. I just verified with the widget. As I said. I do receive it occasionally but 80% of the time I have to prompt it by hitting send and receive. It's annoying!

What email app are you using to receive your emails? I am sure you have looked thru all the settings to make sure that nothing is limited there..
Also, do you have any smart actions or data limits applied thru the data manager app or anything that says to "sync over wifi"...

I'm using the app that came with the phone and from what it appears all are correct. I do have smart actions set up, but only one for work that detects my location and sets my volume to vibrate only. As far as sync over wi'fi only goes, it that was applied somewhere I'd should be getting my mail at home via wi-fi and I dont'. That said. I'm not sure what you're talking about when you mention data manager. Can you explain? where can I find that? is it an app? or a phone setting?
Thanks

It is a phone setting - from the homescreen, hard menu key, data manager...
The only other option I would suggest is possibly checking into a 3rd party email app - K9 is free in the market and pretty easy to setup (multiple accounts included)...you might check to see if that assists with the auto-retrieval process.

quick follow up. I stumbled across a short thread that said the standard razr email app is a bit "cumbersome" with yahoo accounts (2 of which I use). Anyone have experience with this? Maybe this is the issue. I am not familiar with any other email apps but worth a try. suggestions?

On my third razr, the first new from the verizon store, and two replacement certified "like" new devices. This last one seems to really be as new. The second one did not. As to retrieving email, all of them have been the same. That is to say that they do when they want to. Settings are configured to check every 15 minutes. It may be hours before it updates. When I set them to retrieve manually they still would do it at non specific times automatically. The 4G network is a hoax in the Palm Beach County area. Designed to encourage people to buy a maxx, since if you have a razr the constant seeking of a 4G signal will drain your battery, even when you're not using the device. I like it as a phone though. Nice and slim, hip, slick, and cool looking with the big screen. OTOH, if I had it to do over again, and knew what I know now, I wouldn't buy a razr. YMMV.

I was having the same issue with Yahoo, not synching. Here's what I did and it now works.
I uninstalled the Yahoo account that was not synching, the one that came with the Razr, then went to [Apps, My Accounts, Add Account, Email Accounts and instead of picking Yahoo, I selected "Other"], entered my yahoo account address /password and automatically configure. It now works!
Give it a try.
