    Assigning a new mp3 notification/text tone.

I have an mp3 I'd like to utilize as my text/notification tone. I cannot for the life of me figure out how. It is not in the default list obviously.

    Any thoughts?

Mr. Member 4000! (I think that's pretty cool.. lol!)

There are a few ways that you can do this. If you are rooted, you can browse to this folder: /system/media/audio and from there you can copy the file into the type of notification you want it listed in (alarms, notifications, ringtones.. etc.). If you're not rooted, you may want to search the Play Store for MP3 Notifications. There should be a good amount of free apps that can do what you're looking for. Unfortunately I don't have an example of an app to recommend to you. Maybe someone else can give you a more solid answer on that.

The way I did it was to attach the Razr to my PC via USB. Two drives show up, one is the SD card, the other is internal memory. On the internal, go to media/audio. Add your mp3 to either ringtones or notifications. Reboot. It's there.

(It's broken for me as well, so I bet you guys have it cached)

So far Zedge seems to be the easiest app I have found, but I normally create them myself and use RedTargets or Cramers method.

I must be doing something wrong. I have placed my custom ringtones unto the internal card, media, audio, notifications folder and the phone is not finding them. What am I missing?

Yes I rebooted - No, I'm not rooted (yet).

Doesn't make any since. That's how mine are installed and I find them when I open ringtones. You can play the ringtone through your music player and add as a ringtone, there.

Oh, I missed it reading your post the first time. Make a folder in the audio called ringtones. Place your ringtones and there and they'll show up. It should look like this: For custom ringtones, create a file on your SD Card called media, then a folder called audio, then a folder in there called ringtones. Place your ringtones in this folder and there you go. You can also place a folder called notifications in audio and place your notification ringstones in it and you'll see them.

I figured out my problem. I copied the folder and files over from what I had on my DX. In the DX I had to place a file "nomedia" to keep the ringtones from appearing in my music player. The Maxx didn't recognize the ringtones I added because of that file. Once it was removed my ringtones were rockin.

    Thanks for the help.
