razr - problems rooting

Have rooted two droid bionics and three razr, ALL with no problems. This last Razr that I got I just cant seem to get it to root. Noticed that its installing the files to the phone, but read only. Is there some update that motorola or verizon put on this latest one that is preventing the root. Also notice that after I extracted the files, theres no run/bat file , just a run file. Have tried 4 different sites extracted and run, and o"yes have the latest 5.5.0motorola drives on laptop. Any thoughts. Thanks

Yup. Sounds like you might be working with the old root. This one ^^^ works fine.

Thanks that certainly explains it. I am familiar with root since I run linux on my tower here at home, and I am indeed 'root.' OTOH, I didn't realize that it was doable on a 'smartphone.' For now I'm going to stick with the basic device since, as the article notes ;
