Discovered totally on accident. Running stock ROM, rooted RAZR.
On the lock screen, swipe the camera-unlock slider (on the right) to open the camera app in locked mode, rather than the unlock-slider. In the camera app, press the switch in the bottom right to switch to video. Once in video, press the home button. Boom, you're in the phone and have bypassed any pattern or password lock set by the owner (who is hopefully you).
It's repeatable on my phone. Anyone else?
I've never used pattern unlock until right now. I only made one to try this. I did exactly what you did, and cannot get it to bypass. I even tried it without switching to video.
I've been able to get this to work a few times in the past... it was very random for me and I never could get it to always work.
Where I work we have software setup to manage every mobile device that accesses our servers in any way. The software enforces certain policies and I get to test them out and see if I can get around them. So anytime I hear of an exploit, you bet I will give it a shot!
I just tried it again today, and now it is fine. I think I have rebooted once since the original time, so maybe that cleared something. Thanks for checking it out guys!
I just tried it with passcode lock (not pattern) and it took me to camera, with the lock icon in the spot where it usually shows the last image snapped, and when i pressed home/back it went back to the lock screen.
