Download SQlite Editor (like $1.99), go to settings (with the hammer icon), click settings again, scroll down to "entitlement_check" (# 147 I think), edit field and change 1 to 0, close out of SQ and click hotspot.

Amazing find! It is line #150 and was my experience that a reboot was needed after the sqlite edit is made; before the hotspot works. Nice share!

Yes. It says in the description on the market that if you're not rooted, then you can only view it. You have to be rooted to change anything to do with the system.

For some reason u can't do it on my maxx.

Won't work on my Maxx either. Rooted and was able to successfully edit the field....but....still asks for a subscription. Weird, this very same method worked on my Razr. But alas, not the Razr Maxx. Oh well....back to the famous Wireless Tether 3rd party app.

I'm not rooted and FoxFi works great for free wireless tethering on the Maxx.
